Limbless teen who lived in a plastic bowl has passed away

Limbless teen who lived in a plastic bowl has passed away

A limbless teen from Nigeria who had dreams of starting her own business, has sadly passed away. She was only 19 years old.

Rahma Haruna, a Nigerian teen who was stricken with a mysterious condition which stopped her limbs from developing properly has passed away.

She died on Christmas day

Rahma was only 19 years old when she passed away, sadly she died on Christmas day. According to reports, her arms and legs stopped developing when she was only 6 months old, leaving her immobile and in chronic pain.

Most of her life was spent inside a plastic bowl which was used by her family to transport her.

Every day, her brother would take her to a nearby town to beg for donations. Last year however, she was helped out by a local journalist who donated a wheelchair so that her family didn’t have to carry her around in a plastic bowl.

“She didn’t learn how to crawl”

Her mother shares, “From six months when she learnt how to sit that was when it began. She didn’t learn how to crawl.”

“She started with a fever and that was it. Then stomach pains. Then her body parts like hands and legs. She cannot use any if the ache strikes.”

Her brother Fahad shares that he has given a lot of his time in order to help his sister: “I help her in many ways. Bathing her is another thing I do, and taking her out every day.”

“I feel happy whenever I see people helping her. I like taking to our relatives. She feels happy when we visit them.”

In spite of her disability, she was hopeful

The family’s fortunes turned for the better when a local photographer’s photos of Rahma went viral on social media, erupting in a flurry of people asking how they could help Rahma and her family in some way.

In spite of her severe disability, Rahma was always hopeful for the future. She even told journalists during a previous interview that she had wanted to start her own business.
