Losing a loved one is never easy. And when a child loses one of his or her parents, it can feel very devastating. However, one father wanted to make his son know just how much he loves him, even if he already passed away.
A welcome surprise
Johnny Crow, who recently turned 16, didn’t expect to receive a gift from his dad, who passed away earlier this year. But still, his father wanted to give his son something to cherish for the rest of his life.
Johnny’s sister Chandler, wrote on a Facebook post: “About a month ago I dropped Johnny off at his guitar lesson, and one of the amazing instructors told me there was something I should see. When she showed me I just dropped to my knees, I just couldn’t believe it. But I had to keep it a secret until his birthday. So this morning I woke up and picked up my brother from school and blindfolded him. Drove him to the music center and this is the outcome.”
She added that her brother was an aspiring musician, and that their father wanted to surprise Johnny with the guitar that he’s always wanted. She writes, “Johnny has been wanting this guitar for a while. He would joke with my dad about getting it in the future, (my dad) was a huge supporter of Johnny’s music dream and lived for his family … My dad would tell everyone that he knew Johnny was going to be famous one day and worked hard to get him there.”
It was an emotional moment
On the Facebook post that Chandler shared, she took a video of the emotional moment wherein her brother started reading the birthday card that their dad wrote for Johnny. And once the guys from the music store took out Johnny’s dream guitar, he was so overcome with emotion and became speechless.
In that moment, you can clearly see just how much Johnny misses his dad, and with their dad’s amazing surprise, you can really feel that he loved and supported his dream of being a musician someday.
We’re hoping that Johnny can make his dreams come true, and rightfully honor the memory of his loving father.
