Terminally ill 3-year-old travels the world via postcards

2 min read

Ellie Walton may only be three years old, but she’s already proven that she’s one of the most courageous people on the planet.

When Ellie was four months old, she was diagnosed with a rare brain tumor. Doctors claim that Ellie has stage IV glioblastoma, which is considered to be terminal.

Since her original diagnosis, little Ellie has endured 17 separate surgeries including 14 brain surgeries and three tumor removals. Through her ongoing surgeries, Ellie must also receive chemotherapy treatment on a weekly basis, and has also fallen victim to septic shock and meningitis.

Ellie’s whole life has been spent fighting, and so far she’s put up a good fight through positivity and hope.

Ellie stays positive by staying busy. Namely, she enjoys learning about exotic lands and distant places. Unfortunately for Ellie, her condition makes it impossible for her to fly on an airplane to visit any of the places she studies.

In an effort to liven Ellie’s spirits, her parents requested for postcards from people all around the world. By March 11th, the family had received over 500 postcards from people all around the world! Ellie may currently be unable to travel to these places, but thanks to the kindness of strangers, these foreign lands will feel close to home!

Ellie Walton continues her battle every day, but you’ll be pleased to know that in recent scans, her brain tumor shows evidence of shrinking. For someone as strong as Ellie, one can’t be too surprised!
