The Brilliant Hour: How Just One Hour a Day Can Shape a Lifetime of Learning

The Brilliant Hour: How Just One Hour a Day Can Shape a Lifetime of Learning

We all want the best for our children, but between work, chores, and daily life, it’s not always easy to set aside time for learning. The good news? You don’t need a full day or expensive tools to support your child’s growth. Sometimes, all it takes is one focused, intentional hour.

This is the heart of the Brilliant Hour: a reminder that even small, consistent efforts can help build big learning outcomes when paired with the right kind of stimulation and support.

Why the Brilliant Hour Matters Now More Than Ever

Recent government data revealed a growing concern: around 18 to 19 million Filipinos aged 10 to 64 (including many high school graduates) are functionally illiterate. This means that although they can read, write, and compute, they struggle with comprehension and other higher-level skills, which limits their ability to process information effectively.

Among senior high school grads, about 1 in 5 still fall under this category. Experts warn that this isn’t just about academics, it’s about helping young minds develop true understanding and critical thinking skills.

Small Habits, Big Impact

This is where the Brilliant Hour can help. The Brilliant Hour is Enfagrow A+ Four’s advocacy encouraging parents to dedicate just a time in a day to stimulate focus, thinking and learning and equip children with higher intelligence so they can thrive in dynamic situations. This can be done through proper nutrition with the help of Enfagrow A+ Four, and proper stimulation.

Initiatives like the Brilliant Hour Robotics Workshop, supported by Enfagrow A+ Four, offer real-life applications of this concept. Through fun challenges like building robots that deliver “brain food,” kids are encouraged to explore logic, collaboration, and problem-solving–skills that go beyond memorization – the kind of proper stimulation that is fun ang engaging!

How to Try the Brilliant Hour at Home

You can start your own Brilliant Hour with these simple steps:

  • Pick the right time when your child is most alert, such as after a snack or school.
  • Choose engaging, open-ended activities, like building, drawing, or asking “what if” questions.
  • Be present and curious, not just instructive.
  • Pair with proper nutrition. Nourish your child with brain-supporting nutrients that support higher intelligence like MFGM and DHA, just like Enfagrow A+ Four.

Make it a habit: a few days a week can already make a difference.

Enfagrow A+ Four’s Commitment

Enfagrow A+ Four’s The Brilliant Hour campaign was created to support parents during this critical stage of brain development. While it doesn’t replace formal education, it complements it by encouraging meaningful learning moments at home and in community events.

These efforts aim to help raise children who don’t just pass tests but understand, explore, and apply what they learn.

Ready to try it out?

Moms and dads, don’t let this critical stage of your child’s development slip by. Spend time with your children everyday with simple, practical brain activities for proper stimulation and support their proper nutrition with the help of Enfagrow A+ Four, the only milk with MFGM (among staged milks) and the highest DHA levels (among formula milks) that help support HIGHER INTELLIGENCE for your A+ child (vs formula without MFGM, with early supplementation of MFGM, with proper nutrition and stimulation).

Hi, I’m Hazel Paras-Cariño—Head of Content at theAsianparent Philippines, proud mom of two, and passionate storyteller at heart. With over 11 years of experience in content strategy, digital marketing, and editorial leadership, I now lead our content across web, app, and social platforms to serve one of the most important audiences out there: Filipino parents. Whether it's creating informative articles, engaging mobile experiences, or meaningful social conversations, I believe content should connect with both data and heart.

Before this role, I worked as App Marketing Manager and Web Content Editor at theAsianparent, and previously contributed to NGOs, tech, and creative industries. I hold a Master’s degree in Integrated Marketing Communication, but my real education comes from balancing deadlines, diapers, and the daily chaos of motherhood. When I’m off-duty, you’ll find me painting, dancing, or exploring imaginative stories with my kids—sometimes all at once.

Let’s keep creating content that informs, empowers, and uplifts families.
