Toddler climbs over pool fence, reminding us to never take safety for granted

Toddler climbs over pool fence, reminding us to never take safety for granted

For moms and dads with toddlers at home, toddler safety is very important. Read on to learn more about how you can better protect your kids!

Toddlers are escape artists and natural climbers, and they’re persistent and clever. That’s why families who have young kids usually opt for toddler safety devices at home, such as a fence or a gate to prevent their kids from going to places that could be dangerous. And these toddler safety devices do help keep kids safe – mostly.

Some crafty toddlers have managed to climb over some of these “childproof” devices. One toddler even managed to undo the gate latch after climbing over a pool safety gate!

What Happens When Toddler Safety Devices Don’t Work?

In the video, a toddler can be seen climbing a safety gate installed in their pool. The little kid managed to climb up right until his mom picks him up and takes him down.

The gate was supposed to prevent kids from climbing it, but as you can see in the video, the toddler didn’t have a difficult time doing so.

The dad shares, “If a toddler — a 2-year-old, 3-year-old — wants to get something, they will get it. I was shocked to see how fast he could get up there… not only to climb a ladder, but to climb a safety ladder that was locked.”

Later on in the video, you’ll see a young boy climbing up and down a fence. He even went back up just to show how easy it is for him to do so.

And a third child in the video shows how he can climb up the safety fence, and even undo the latch that should prevent him from accessing their pool!

The parents took the videos and shared them online just to show how some “safety devices” can still be outsmarted by crafty toddlers.

How Can Moms and Dads Keep Their Kids Safe?

While safety devices can be useful, the best way to keep your kid safe would be proper supervision.

Moms and dads should make it a point to always keep an eye on their kids. Whenever you’re at the beach, in the park, and even at home, be sure to look after your child.

It’s never a good idea to leave the responsibility of your child’s safety to various safety devices since some kids can be really crafty.

Like what the dad said above, if a toddler wants something, then they will do everything to get it. So it’s our responsibility to always keep a watchful eye on them.

Emphasize the importance of safety at home and make sure your kids understand what’s safe and what’s dangerous. Making your kids equally responsible for their safety is a great way of keeping them free from injury.
