A great sex life is one of the essentials of a happy and healthy relationship. This is why satisfaction in your sex life is important. Contrary to popular belief, there are different kinds of ways to achieve pleasure and climax. Orgasms aren’t all the same and as you become more intimate with your partner, your sexual enjoyment also evolves.

Here are four common types of orgasms you should look forward to throughout your life with your partner or hubby!

1. The Long-term relationship orgasm

According to Prevention, being in a loving, committed orgasm plays a role in making your orgasms even more satisfying. The Guardian lists several reasons why sex in long-term relationships is more satisfying. Chief of these reasons is that there’s more honesty, openness, and trust. Partners feel more free and secure to achieve orgasm.

“For women especially, if you’re distracted, if you can’t relax, it’s hard to enjoy sexual pleasure and experience orgasm,” clinical sexologist and relationship coach Uta Demontis tells the Guardian.

To achieve this, try gunning for the “blended orgasm,” which is when both your clitoris and G-spot are engaged and stimulated. According to author Yvonne K. Fulbright, his can be done using fingers, or through oral sex.

2. The post-childbirth orgasm

Though we’ve previously tackled reasons why sex after birth hurts and how to remedy it, let’s take a closer look on what makes post-birth sex satisfying.

According to sex therapist Ashley Grinonneau-Denton, orgasms produce vaginal contractions which strengthen the pelvic muscles, which are commonly weakened by childbirth. Other benefits of orgasms during this time is the lessening of post-birth pain, thanks to the release of oxytocin during orgasms.

Though doctors advise couples to have intercourse at least six months after birth, you can make it worth the wait by prolonging foreplay and using loads of lubricant, just to be super sure there is no pain and there is enough relaxation for orgasm to be achieved.

3. The “finally!” orgasm

This type of orgasm typically happens with a new partner. If you’ve only had sex a couple of times without climaxing, once you’ve both achieved orgasm together, it’ll make intimacy even more satisfying. Don’t pressure yourself to orgasm in an instant.

Studies have shown that women are most likely to climax during sex if they’re in a long-term, committed relationship. In fact, there is only a 32 percent chance that a woman will achieve orgasm with a new partner. While, if they’ve been with the same partner for more than 6 times, their chances increase to 51 percent.

4. The “experienced” orgasm

As you get older, it may prove to be more of a challenge to achieve orgasm with your partner, but there are advantages to being experienced in intimacy. One of these is, according to a study out of the University of Pittsburgh, being more confident in your own skin and embracing your flaws. Researchers also found that, past the age of 40, many women become more sexually adventurous.

If you’re at this stage, worry not. Sex educator Barbara Keesling suggests to try fantasizing, masturbation, and even regular exercise to “get your blood flowing” even before you engage in foreplay with your partner.
