He used to sell rags to jeepney drivers, and could hardly feed his family. But this 40-year-old father from Laguna is now a multi-millionaire after winning the jackpot in the Super Lotto 6/49.
The winning number combination 13-20-31-41-45-46 won him a prize of more than Php 94 million.
“He only earns P100 every day from selling rags to jeepney drivers,” said Jose Ferdinand Rojas II, Vice Chairperson and General Manager of the Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO) in an article by Jovic Yee on The Philippine Daily Inquirer.

Rojas also revealed that the winner, whose wife left him years ago because he couldn’t provide her with a life of affluence, has been playing the lotto for the past nine years, hoping to become a millionaire.
The winner has vowed to use the money to ensure a brighter future for his children.
His first order of business is to move out his children from their makeshift house and into a proper home.
The father of two also plans to build an apartment complex, which he wants to lease out so that he and his family will never be impoverished again.
He also plans to invest some of the money in a trust fund, and put the rest into savings.

The minimum guaranteed prize of the Super Lotto 6/49 is Php 16 million. After no winning number combinations were drawn over the past 23 draws beginning from February 28, the prize then increased to Php 94,210,188.
The winner’s identity remains confidential for security purposes. However, Rojas guaranteed the public that the winner is an actual person, and was presented to the Commission on Audit, Bureau of Treasury, and Land Bank of the Philippines, where the check was encashed.
Rojas likewise pointed out that PCSO’s standards of procedures have been certified as more than adequate by theInternational Organization for Standardization. This ensures proper and secure lotto draws, as well as the claiming of prizes.
