“When we decided to stay together for life, we decided to have this baby,” Vicki Belo told the Inquirer in an exclusive interview by Thelma Sioson San Juan. Below are excerpts from her interview..
It came as a shock when Hayden Kho announced on May 15 that he has a daughter with on-and-off girlfriend Belo. The announcement was made through an Instagram post of Kho holding a baby girl.
“I guess God knew fatherhood would change me completely and bring me closer to being the kind of man He always wanted me to be. He sent me and Vicki an angel who is to be our lifelong inspiration. Meet our daughter, Scarlet Snow,” the proud father said.

According a report by Nerissa Almo on PEP.ph, Scarlet Snow was conceived throughIn Vitro Fertilization, costing some Php 8M. Also according to an article by Rachelle Siazon on PEP.ph, the couple visited the American-Mexican surrogate mother to get to know her and her family twice – first when she was 5 months pregnant and then again as they awaited Scarlet Snow’s birth.
Scarlet Snow was born in March 2015 in the United States, making her 14 months old to date.
Belo and Kho have been together for 11 years
Belo, who is much older than Kho, also told the Inquirer that she always worried about not being able to give Kho a family.
“It’s always been my concern (in our relationship) that we couldn’t have a family, but Hayden would always tell me that he was willing to be with me, with or without a child. When we decided, we figured a way, this surrogacy,” Belo is quoted in the article.
“For me this is a wonderful time to have a child. I have the time and money. And Hayden has been the best dad ever,” she also said.
Having Scarlet together, Belo told the Inquirer, has strengthened their bond as a couple.
“We talk about life now more and more, and we’re on the same page because of Scarlet,” Belo said.

And where did they get the name Scarlet Snow?
Kho, who is a Christian, shared with the Inquirer that the name came from Isaiah 118, which says, “Though your sins be red as scarlet, I shall make them white as snow.”

In an interview with Ricky Lo, the new parents said, “We feel like our lives and relationship have more meaning now that Scarlet is here.”
They have adjusted well to parenthood, and Kho has been really involved in Scarlet Snow’s daily activities, from play dates to kiddie parties. For them, the greatest challenge is molding Scarlet Snow’s heart, which they know will take a lot of good examples, strength, and discipline. They also acknowledged that it is ultimately Jesus Christ who is in control of the life of their little angel.
“We’re beyond happy. The word is joy,” Kho also told the Inquirer.
