6 Ways husbands hurt their wives without realizing it

6 Ways husbands hurt their wives without realizing it

Though they may mean well, many men tend to do certain things that cause their wives to feel neglected and unhappy.

Here are six simple ways husbands damage their relationships without meaning to...

Putting other things first

Putting other things first

Though working hard is important to provide for your family, it can often cause an imbalance in your relationship with your wife.

One example is when you insist on checking your work e-mail while she is telling you about her day.

Or when she opens up about something serious but you choose to look at your phone instead of deep into her eyes.

Not managing time and finances well

Your day can easily be filled with pressing errands and work commitments but actively carving out a place in your schedule to focus solely on her shows her you really care.

Even if your wife is the bigger earner in the family, not being able to handle your share of the household budget can cause strain in your marriage.

Showing her you care about managing your home tells her that you love and value her without even saying it.

Withholding physical affection

Withholding physical affection

Physical intimacy is so much more than just sex (though sex is important!)

Affection can be shown through hugs and kisses before you leave for work, or even a simple gesture of reaching for her hand inside the cinema.

These tender gestures outside the bedroom can make intimacy inside the bedroom so much more meaningful.

Discouraging her dreams

Discouraging her dreams

This may seem obvious and a lot of husbands believe they are not guilty of this but it's all in the little things.

For instance, if she tells you about a current hobby she's passionate about and you immediately cut her off saying things like it's impractical and suggesting other uses for her time, you could be hurting her unintentionally.

Not making an effort to really listen

Not making an effort to really listen

Not being on the same wavelength can lead to marital instability.

Making an effort to speak your wife's language at any stage of her life is important.

Just because the years pass, this doesn't mean you should grow less interested and invested in your wife as a dynamic individual and allowing her to be her own person.

Loving her means embracing her flaws and encouraging her growth as a person.
