When I was a teenager, my mom already taught me the basics of cooking. I remembered the first dish she taught me was sautéed vegetables. I didn't get to cook for the family everyday but I am proud that I know what to do. My mom told me that, we need to learn the basic life skills because they aren't going to he around forever. I didn't realized it back then but now I do.

I lived with my grandmother too and I can say that her cooking is what I am used too. She overcooked everything from rice to meat and veggies because she already has a weak teeth and cannot chew everything properly. So I liked it better if my food is overcooked. When I had my own family, tasting my mother in law's cooking is different from my taste so it's new to me, but it's sure was delicious. I can say that in every household we have different ways and preferences for food but it's totally fine.

When I finally had a chance to cook for my own family, I just do it the way I wanted. Whether it's toasted, overcooked or just right. And even though I know the basics of cooking, I admit that I didn't know everything. And as a wife and first time mom, cooking for someone is challenging. It's hard to think of viands and recipes everyday. And you know how I learned further? Just by watching video tutorials. Even the finest chefs today studied to be the best right? So it's totally fine if you didn't know how to cook at first. But if you're really interested, you'll improve eventually.

The recipes in the photo are Pork with soy sauce and tomato sauce. Added with lime carbonated drink, bell pepper and green peas. Its process is like cooking both Adobo and Mechado. It tastes like both dishes too. And you can do it with chicken as well.

The second is my version of Menudo. And since my grandma's specialty is Menudo, I wanted to continue her legacy but in my version. It's not different from your usual way of cooking this dish. I just preferred mine to be oily and saucy.

Third is a simple ham and cheese bread roll. I love cheese and you can do it for Merienda, breakfast or anytime. And of course, I believe a lot of moms out here knew how to do a mango graham float. You can make it plain and still taste delicious because of the milk. I love creamy and milky treats so I love to do this dish anytime I felt like doing it.

I am not a professional chef and foodie but I am hoping to develop my own home-cooked dish someday. But in the meantime, I will follow other people's recipes so I thank them for that. I hope you enjoy reading and probably you might want to create this one for yourselves too.
