There were lapses in the patient’s safety

Reporters from GMA News showed CCTV footage of the incident to Dr. Arnold Roque, a Medical Officer for Jose Reyes Memorial Medical Center. He found that there were lapses when it came to the patient’s safety, adding that the stretcher should have side rails that can be raised, as well as a strap that will keep the patient in place while being transported.

Another expert, Jhun Tolentino, who is the EMT Deputy Admin for the Manila Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office, said that the paramedics were too complacent; one of the paramedics simply pulled out the stretcher from within the ambulance without the assistance of the other paramedics. He added that the stretcher should be secured until all of the wheels are safely on the ground, to make sure that the patient stays safe and stable within the stretcher.
