World Vision: Global 6K for Water, stay healthy while giving back

There are places in the Philippines that need clean water and they need it. World Vision Philippines: Global Run For 6K For A Clean Water.

Global Vision along with TakboPH is holding its annual Global 6k for Water. This event is done in order to raise funds for those that need clean water facilities in far-flung places in The Phillippines. So join the World Vision: Global 6K for Water, stay healthy while giving back.

What is World Vision?

They are a global humanitarian organization devoted to improving the lives of children, their families, and communities to overcome poverty. World Vision is a thread that brings people together, enabling Filipinos to build a better world for children.

As the largest non-profit organization in the Philippines, World Vision helps over 1.5 million children every year, with the support of thousands of Filipino sponsors and donors.

Their Vision:

  • Their vision for every child, life in all its fullness; Our prayer for every heart, the will to make it so.

Mission:

  • They are an international partnership of Christians whose mission is to follow our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ in working with the poor and oppressed to promote human transformation, seek justice, and bear witness to the good news of the Kingdom of God.

World Vision backs DepEd learning continuity plan

The goal of the run is to raise money to build wash facilities, the focus is not only on providing clean water but for sanitation purposes as well.

Making clean water accessible for everyone, is one of World Vision’s main. This is to raise money for those areas that don’t have access or have trouble accessing clean water. These are areas that they consider isolated or geographically disadvantaged.

World Vision said that the average range that people walked is 6k just for water and not even clean water.

According to the research that they have done, 27.2 million families in the country still don’t have access to clean water or have trouble accessing clean and safe water.

World Vision currently has 28 area programs in the Philippines and with the help of this year’s Global 6k for Water, they can add more to the program.

They want to reach other areas as well, they want to reach more communities.

They want families to stay healthy, especially during the pandemic. It is very important to them that people stay in tip-top shape because in these very hard times.

Details for the World Vision: Global 6K for Water

The details are:

  • The race will be held from July 1 to September 15
  • There is a 600 peso entrance fee ( donation to World Vison and complete with certification after completing the number of kilometers that you signed up for)
  • Target distances for runners are 6km, 12km, 24km, and 60km. These are accumulated kilometers.
  • This event is purely online so there is no need to have a venue for the event, people can do this from the comfort of their homes
  • No age requirement
  • The funds will go to communities that really need it
  • Their target goal is to reach more than 1k runners in the event
  • You can sign up here at app.takbo.ph/all-races?type=all
  • Track your kilometers via your phone, smartwatch, or treadmill
  • Upload your kilometers done on the Takbo PH website.

 

Staying healthy and eating right is the key to a healthy and long life. Joining events like these are good for both the body and the soul.

So let’s join the World Vision: Global 6K for Water, stay healthy while giving back to the needy. Don’t forget to eat a light but the well-balanced meal on the days that you plan to run, it will supply you with the energy and nutrients that you need to run!
