It has been the name of choice for many parents in countries such as Mexico, Russia, Estonia, Chile and Russia.
Based on a report which involved collecting and comparing baby name statistics from 49 countries, the dominance of Sofia (or Sophia and Sophie) was “stunning”.

It’s interesting to note that the root word Sofia means “wisdom”.
Despite differences in language and customs, the appeal of this name is quite telling.
