Easy and simple small potato recipe

1. Select small potatoes of uniform size

When selecting small potato for a recipe, uniform size is key. Aim for potatoes that measure 1-3 inches in diameter, as they tend to cook more evenly. When possible, try to select potatoes that are all the same size to ensure consistent cooking times. This helps to ensure your potatoes will be cooked and seasoned evenly, providing a delicious and satisfying meal.

2. Wash potatoes in cold running water

Begin preparing potatoes by washing them in cold running water. This will remove any dirt and debris from the potatoes, ensuring they are clean and safe to consume.

Be sure to scrub any potatoes that have dirt stuck to their skin. After washing, promptly place the potatoes in a bowl of cold water or wrap them in a damp cloth. This will help keep them from drying out or turning brown.

3. Peel potatoes, if desired

If desired, you can peel the potatoes before cooking them. To do this, you’ll need to wash the potatoes to remove any dirt or debris. Next, you’ll want to use a vegetable peeler to remove the skin.

For small potatoes, it’s best to start near the top of the potato and peel downward. Once you’ve peeled off the skin, rinse the potatoes off with water and pat them dry. You can now move on to the next step of the recipe.

4. Cut potatoes into desired shape or size

Cut potatoes into desired shape or size. A sharp knife is the best tool for this task, as it will enable you to create clean, even slices and pieces. For cubes or sticks, consider larger potatoes.

If you are making mashed potatoes, smaller potatoes will cook faster and yield a smoother texture. For best results, keep potatoes around the same size to ensure even cooking.

5. Preheat oven or skillet to the desired temperature

Preheat the oven or skillet to the desired temperature before cooking the potatoes. Set the oven temperature to 375°F (190°C) to roast the potatoes, or set a skillet to medium-high heat to fry them.

Make sure to give the oven or skillet enough time to reach the desired temperature before introducing the potatoes; this will ensure a more even cooking.

6. Add potatoes to preheated pan and season with desired spices

Add potatoes to the preheated pan and season with desired spices of choice. Ensure the potatoes are evenly spread out in the pan and are not touching each other. F

ry until the potatoes are golden brown and cooked through, flipping them over once or twice to ensure even cooking. When finished, potatoes should be crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. Serve and enjoy.

7. Cook until potatoes are tender

After adding potatoes to the skillet, cover the skillet and cook for an additional 10 to 12 minutes, stirring occasionally. To test for doneness, take a fork and pierce the potatoes.

When the potatoes are tender, the fork should easily pierce the potato pieces. If the potatoes are not tender, cook for an additional 2 to 3 minutes, stirring occasionally. When the potatoes are done, remove the skillet from the heat and serve.

8. Serve with desired accompaniments

Once the small potatoes are cooked and ready, serve them with desired accompaniments. Some popular suggestions include butter, cheese, sour cream, crumbled bacon, herbs, and spices.

If serving as a side dish, consider serving the potatoes with a protein, such as grilled chicken or steak, as well as steamed or roasted vegetables. If desired, garnish the potatoes with chopped parsley or green onions. Enjoy!

Small potatoes are a great way to enjoy a delicious, flavorful meal. They are quick and easy to prepare, and they can be made with a variety of ingredients.

Whether you’re looking for a healthy side dish or a tasty main course, small potatoes are a great choice. With a little creativity, you can create a unique and delicious dish that everyone will enjoy!
