Angelina Jolie uses self as 'human shield' to protect kids from mob

3 min read

Much like her character Tigress in Kung Fu Panda 3, Angelina Jolie is highly protective and brave.

The mom of six recently proved this yet again while she was in Greece.

The actress used her body as a shield to keep her children from getting crushed by a mob of people longing to catch a glimpse of the Oscar winner.

In the video, the actress can be seen desperate for help.

"It's not safe for the children," she pleaded. "You need to back up."

As she starts to pull her kids closer, the mob around them steadily grew more rowdy.

"The kids are going to get hurt," she says, practically begging people to back up. When they wouldn't, she began to use herself as a 'human shield' to protect the kids who were with her.

Thankfully, they eventually managed to get away from the mob. But it's events such as this that reminds us how we must respect the privacy of celebrities.

After all, the purpose of Angelina's visit was first and foremost to represent the U.N. in uplifting these kids and not for pubicity purposes.

The 40-year-old actress/director was in Athens, Greece to visit about 4,000 stranded refugees and migrants on behalf of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees.

"I am here to reinforce efforts by UNHCR and the Greek government to step up the emergency response to the deteriorating humanitarian situation," said Angelina as reported by ET Online. "I look forward to meeting authorities, partners and volunteers working on the ground to improve conditions and ensure the vulnerable are protected."

Prior to her trip to Greece, she visited a Syrian refugee camp in Lebanon with the goal of raising awareness on the Syrian civil war during its 5th year anniversary.

This trip follows Jolie's visit to a Syrian refugee camp in Lebanon on Tuesday, where she raised awareness on the five-year anniversary of the Syrian civil war.

"There are 4.8 million Syrian refugees in this region, and 6.5 million people displaced inside Syria," she said in her speech. "On this day, the fifth anniversary of the Syria conflict, that is where I had hoped I would be: in Syria, helping UNHCR with returns, and watching families I have come to know be able to go home. It is tragic and shameful that we seem to be so far from that point."
