A burglar attempted to break into a home in Rodriguez, Rizal on Good Friday, April 14th.
The only thing he was able to steal was a can of paint
Based on the CCTV recording, the burglar can be seen walking around the home, which was empty at the time, trying to see which locks he can open so that he can get into the home.
At one point, the burglar can be seen trying to steal a chicken from the home, but since he was unable to open any of the locks, the only thing that the burglar was able to take was a can of paint.
In spite of the failed robbery however, the residents of the home are still worried since this has been the third time that someone has attempted to break into their home. Still, they’re very lucky that nothing else was stolen from them, and that no one was hurt.
Keep your home safe
Holidays and long weekends might be fun, but it’s still very important for families to always make sure that their homes are secure whenever they go out, as burglars usually try and break into homes if they’re sure that there’s no one at home.
So here are some helpful tips to help keep your home safe while you’re out having fun:
- Ask your friends or neighbors to look after your home while you’re gone. If you have a close friend, or a trusted neighbor or relative, then you can give them an extra key so that they can check into your home from time to time. That way, they can immediately tip you off if there are any emergencies.
- Don’t tip off thieves on social media. Some people make the mistake of sharing too much on social media. These days, thieves and burglars are very crafty, and they sometimes check social media to figure out if a family went on a vacation, so that they can break into their home. Make sure to not share too much information on social media, such as your address, phone number, and even your daily activities.
- Make sure your doors are locked, and your gates have good quality locks. It’s also important to make sure that your locks at home are of a good quality, and won’t easily break if forced open. They might be expensive, but it’s a small price to pay to keep your property safe.
- Put your valuables in a safe place. As another level of precaution, you can buy a safety deposit box where you can put all of your valuable documents inside. Make sure that it’s in a secure place in your home, and keep the combination as well as the lock safe and secure. It’s also a good precaution to have a safety deposit box as it also protects your valuables from flood, fires, etc.
