Coleen Garcia proudly shows her stretch marks on her recent Instagram post. She cited on the post:

“Some photos from my pregnancy that I never got to share. It’s September!!! I’ve been reminiscing and looking through old photos of this time when it was still just the two of us, and oh how different everything was!

We really had no idea what we were in for, not just by having a baby, but by having a baby during THIS time. Still in the middle of a pandemic.

Either way, life has been more vibrant than ever, and time really does fly. I’m somewhere between “It’s been a year already?!” and “It’s only been a year?!”  and to think I haven’t even made it to the Day 1 Amari photos yet. I’ll cry.

The said post gained 339,166 likes and different reactions from celebrities and the public.

Along with the pregnancy photos she shared on her Instagram, one person asked in the comment section how did she remove the stretch marks she got while she’s pregnant.  Coleen Garcia simply answered:

“They’re still here! The color just faded, but they’re still kinda sunken. You can really only see them up close or in a harsh lighting. Haven’t done anything to treat them”

We can recall that just a few months into Coleen Garcia’s pregnancy last 2020,  she experienced spotting which turned out to be a subchorionic hemorrhage of hematoma, she announced it in her YouTube vlog with her husband, Billy Crawford.

She was put on bed rest for two weeks. Physically, she noted, everything went well but the experience took a toll on her mental health.

“Everything was great kaya lang ‘yong mental state ko really, really suffered during that time. The whole two weeks kasi I wasn’t allowed to do anything but stay in bed,” she said.

“I have an overactive mind to the point na minsan it’s anxiety-inducing already for me. To be in bed for two weeks, not doing anything, with anxiety, really made me feel so depressed,” she explained.

Thankfully, after the two-week-long bed rest, her blood clot healed. Coleen said she owes her healing mentally and physically to God.

“I now attend one-on-one online Prenatal Pilates classes with Options Studio BGC, and the movements are minimal compared to what I’m used to”

“But they focus on engaging and strengthening my pelvic floor muscles, which I will need for labor and recovery. The key is to never overexert! Working out should make you feel stronger and more energized, not the opposite.”

“I really believe that having a healthy lifestyle is one of the reasons why I didn’t go through a hard time while pregnant.” she continuously added.

Fast forward to when baby Amari was born last September 10, 2020, time flies so fast because he will turn one year old in a few days! Coleen admitted that she’s still doing a lot of adjustments after her delivery.

“Our journey is quite unique kasi this all happened while we are on lockdown. It’s still hard to imagine what normal life is going to be like.

Kasi kahit naman nung buntis ako, naka-lockdown na. It’s hard to be imagine what it will be like when it is back to work, when I start going out again.

Excited din naman ako for that because everything is really going to be different,” she stated in an interview.

“I know now I am not perfect, there are so many things to learn but I am so determined. Even like nung una, ‘yung breastfeeding nahirapan talaga ako and I thought na it was going to be hard for me.

To push and to continue to move forward and to continue to try—it’s really not going to be easy. But as long as we have the attitude na we want to keep trying, we want to keep doing the best we can, then at least we will be doing better than we were yesterday,” she added.

Though everything is still new to her, Coleen remarked that she will continue to be determined to provide what is best for her son Amari.

Another recent post from Coleen Garcia showcased her effectiveness as a mom,  she made leftover veggies into the broth and mixed it with Cerelac for baby Amari.  Baby Amari eating and enjoying the veggie broth was also included at the end of the video.  He’s so cute and adorable!

She stated along this post:

“Getting heavier and heavier, little man.

Lots of mamas have been asking me where I get my nursing tank tops! Some of them I ordered through Amazon, and some are from @mamaway_ph.

The ones from Amazon are the stretchy ones I wear at home and to sleep (they come in threes, just search “nursing tank tops”), but Mamaway’s are more discreet and better for wearing outside the house. 😊 Hope that helps! They’re a bra and top in one, and they snap open for feeding. Sooo convenient and comfy”
Every stage, playing moment even day were documented and posted by Coleen Garcia. That’s how she is as a mom, she’s very hands-on and particular when it comes to baby Amari and that’s how a mom was supposed to be.

4 tips you can do to reduce your risk and treat the stretch marks you already have

1. Control your weight

One of the most helpful things you can do to prevent stretch marks, whether you’re pregnant or not, is to maintain a healthy weight.

Stretch marks can happen when your skin pulls apart quickly due to rapid weight gain. You may also notice stretch marks after rapid weight loss.

Some people develop stretch marks during growth spurts, such as during puberty. Other people, like bodybuilders, notice them after big gains from working out or using steroids.

Working to control body changes from happening too quickly may be your best bet. Eat a healthy diet and exercise to help you manage your weight.

If you do notice rapid weight gain or weight loss, it may be a good idea to visit your doctor to find out why.

2. Stay hydrated

Drinking enough water may help keep your skin hydrated and soft. Soft skin doesn’t tend to develop stretch marks as much as dry skin does.

The Institute of Medicine’s current recommendations for daily water intake is 104 ounces for men and 72 ounces for women.

Drinking caffeinated beverages, like coffee, may actually increase your risk of developing stretch marks. If you drink coffee, make sure you’re balancing out your fluid intake with plenty of water, herbal tea, and other caffeine-free fluids.

Stretch marks may also occur if you lack nutrition in certain areas. Eating foods that boost skin health may help. Make sure your diet includes foods rich in:

  • vitamin C, D, E
  • zinc
  • protein

One way to make sure you’re getting a variety of nutrients is to choose unprocessed foods in various colors. For example, a breakfast of eggs, whole-wheat toast, and mixed berries add many colors to your plate while packing in a variety of nutrients.

4. Include vitamin C in your diet

Collagen plays a role in keeping your skin strong and elastic. It helps reduce the appearance of wrinkles, but it may also be important for preventing stretch marks.

Vitamin C is an important nutrient for the development of collagen. Vitamin C can be found in many fruits and vegetables. Citrus fruits, such as oranges and lemons, are especially good sources of vitamin C.
