“Parents would sometimes associate hospitals with COVID-19. They’d rather bring their children to clinics that are far from hospital setting. But, it just needs to be explained to them that hospitals are doing necessary precautions in containing the spread and transmission of the viral infection. There are measures that they will be going through when they visit a hospital. We understand the anxiety, but if the condition is something that needs immediate medical assistance, then don’t avoid the hospitals.”
“Online consultation will help in addressing the problem immediately. But if it is the case that you need a face-to-face consultation, better to call your doctor first so they can prepare and be warned on why you want to seek medical assistance. So they can accommodate you [too] accordingly. It is safe to go to hospitals. Just wear your mask, face shield, practice social distancing and follow hospital protocols.”

“Mouth eyes nose — we need to protect these because it’s what we always touch. Use protective devices such as goggles, face shield, face masks. Hand washing is very important. But in the absence of soap and water, use your sanitizer or alcohol. But don’t wipe it off, rub it until your hand absorbs it.”
“There are a lot of things we need to do to keep our children safe, but it should be age-appropriate. Children learn from observing how things are being done. So, be a role model to them. Show them that you are also washing your hands often.”
“First thing I would tell them — handwashing will prevent the transmission.”
“Tell them the benefits of wearing mask. Aside from handwashing and wearing of mask, it should also be explained to them that they need to refrain from touching their mouth and eyes.”
- Tulungan silang maging active pa rin.

“We also need to keep our kids active, have activities for them that they can do indoors — if it’s not feasible to play outdoors. Since technology is here to stay, keep in mind that we still need to give them screen time, at least 2 hours. But the parents should supervise their kids, to know the contents of the videos they watch or games they play. The other more important thing would be helping children cope with stress. They might feel isolated during this time, so help them cope with stress by explaining the situation in a language that they will understand.”
