Watch: Family rescued from flood in Cagayan de Oro

Watch: Family rescued from flood in Cagayan de Oro

In this amazing video, a family is shown being rescued by their neighbors as extreme floods and heavy rains ravage their home in Cagayan de Oro City.

A family has been caught on video as their neighbors worked together to rescue them from the oncoming flood caused by the heavy rains.

They thought they were going to die

The video shows the three children being successfully rescued by the neighbors. However, it almost turns into a disaster when it’s their mother’s turn to be rescued as they rescuers and the mother accidentally slip and almost fall into the rushing water.

According to one of the rescuers, they thought that they were going to die since the waters were already at neck level, and there were also a few power cables that were dangling nearby.

The family’s home was located just beside a river, which made it a very dangerous place to live in since the river easily floods due to the trash that people throw in the river.

Thankfully, all of them were rescued and the family is now safe. However, the same can’t be said for their homes, which have been destroyed when the strong rains caused the nearby river to overflow and cause a flash flood.

Strong rains and floods devastated Cagayan de Oro

Due to the heavy rains that happened on Monday evening, the entire Misamis Oriental province, Cagayan de Oro included, suffered flash floods and landslides.

A state of calamity was also declared by the local government so that they can access funds that can be used to speed up the rebuilding process.

Sadly, a total of 7 people were reported to have died during the deluge. Additionally, 1654 families, or a total of 6827 persons have been displaced.
