It was his wife Angeli Pangilinan who first spoke up about the rumored split of their son Gab Valenciano from his wife Tricia Centenera.

"Everyone makes mistakes,"she said in a statement she sent to ABS-CBN news. "This is a family matter. Not everything you read is true. But this is too sensitive a matter to simply make statements about. We request for privacy as we try to handle this hurdle in our life with wisdom and faith."

Like his wife, Gary is naturally very affected by the issue.

"I am affected because they are my children," he confided to PEP. "Flesh and blood ko si Gabriel and I love Tricia very, very much. Siyempre, dahil napakaengrande ng kanilang kasal, ’tapos ganun ang mangyayari."

As for Tricia's social media posts, which hinted at possible infidelity, Gary clarified: “There will always be a third party that will come out. Gab is a naturally friendly kind of person," he shared, lamenting that just because he's kind towards certain girls, the rumor mills start churning. "Hopefully, in the course of time, makikita din ng tao ang totoo."

Tricia also shared a heartfelt post honoring her father-in-law back in September, around the same time news of their rumored split broke out. "So it's fathers day in Australia," she wrote, tagging Gary Valenciano on Instagram. "Thank you for being my second Papa, you too are always here for me. #Respect"

Despite this, his hope that the two will sort things out remains unchanged.

"I always believe that nothing is impossible with God. Kung ako buhay pa after thirty-eight years of being a diabetic," he stated. "Siguro puwede pang mabuhay at maiwan na masigla at nabubuhay pa rin ang marriage nila."

In the same interview, he gave an update on how Gab has been doing since news of the possible split broke out.

"Gab is okay," reassured the loving dad. "Alam naman natin na medyo may mga pagsubok na hinaharap. But I think every family goes through it, we’re handling it as a family.”

"I’m very close to Tricia," reiterated Gary. "Tricia is always going to be my daughter. Mayroon talaga silang mga pinagdaanan. I’d like to tell people… there are things you keep within the family. Because that’s the only way it can be solved. Within the family, so I’ll keep it that."
