Spooky Stories: 10 moms share their scary supernatural stories

This Halloween, TAP moms share their spookiest, most frightening experience with the supernatural. Moms, get ready for Ghost Stories Philippines, TAP Edition.

Just in time for Halloween, TAP Moms joined in and shared their horrifying, real-life ghost stories in the Philippines. Mommies, consider yourself warned.

What can you read in this article?

  • Scary stories involving ghosts or haunted spirits
  • Moms’ real-life encounters with sleep paralysis and supernatural creatures

It’s Halloween, All Saint’s Day, and All Soul’s Day once again, the spooky holiday trifecta. Here in the Philippines, it’s that time of the year where we bring out our scariest ghost stories and supernatural experiences, whether to share it with other people or just scare ourselves.

In a special edition of TAP After Dark (a popular segment in our theAsianparent community), we asked moms to share the spookiest, most horrifying, hair-raising ghost stories that happened to them in real life.

As always, our TAP moms understood the assignment and told us some of the most chilling, spine-tingling stories they experienced firsthand. Allow us to share them with you here.

Warning: this is not for the faint-hearted.

Your haunted home away from home

Small hotels do have an old-time charm to them, right? But this mom’s spooky experience will definitely make you think twice before booking that old house for a vacation.

It all started when she and her boyfriend rented an old house for a quick getaway. Then …

Kids see the scariest things

Hanging out with a child is beautiful because of all their innocence. But what if they start to see something (or someone) and start to freak you out?

Doppelganger

Some of the most popular ghost stories in the Philippines include someone seeing a double or a doppelganger of someone they know. That’s just proof that these things happen every too often in real life. Just like one mom experienced.

Sleep paralysis

A lot of moms also shared their own encounters with sleep paralysis, an out-of-body experience where you feel awake or you see yourself sleeping.

You may be aware of what’s happening around you, but you feel stuck that you can’t move or speak during an episode. You may also be able to recall the details of the episode after temporary paralysis disappears.

According to Healthline, sleep paralysis comes with some symptoms of feeling as if something is pushing you down, feeling like someone or something is in the room, or unexplained fear, and you can’t do anything about it.

Pregnant women, stay indoors at night

Here in the Philippines, we don’t just have the usual ghost stories. We have encounters with supernatural creatures too, fusing with our superstitious beliefs.

One old wives’ tale surrounds supernatural creatures who are after pregnant women, or specifically, their unborn child. Check out one mom’s real-life encounter:

We Filipinos have a lot of superstition involving the sick and the dying. Here’s a story about one hospital patient who encountered a lost soul who got really close to her, it decided to follow her home.

Side question: would you be okay if your husband has a third eye?

Horror movie feels

Think horror movie writers have an extremely twisted imagination? Well, guess what? Some of their best works are based on a true story.

If knowing someone who has a “third eye” seems really frightening, what more if you’re the one who sees dead people?

Don’t ignore the warning

Some neighbors are just plain nosy, but some genuinely care for your welfare. So when moving in to a new place, don’t be too quick to dismiss their warnings, especially when they say they know a chilling history about your new house.

If you made it up to this part, you’re one brave momma! But despite these scary and haunting stories, always remember that there’s a superior being that will always have your back. Just pray, hold on to your faith and remember that good always prevail over evil.
