The sexy heartthrob is one for all the right reasons.
According to an article by Glen Sibonga on PEP.ph, Piolo and his mother, Amelia “Amy” Pascual, sat down for an interview with Magandang Buhay, where Piolo’s close relationship with his mom became apparent. Details of Sibonga’s article follow.
Actually, ang pagiging mama’s boy niya… kasi alam mo bunso kasi, very ano siya…pag nandiyan siya, hahalikan ka, yayakapin ka, ganun,” Amy said.
(“The way he is a mama’s boy is…because he is the youngest…when he is around, he will kiss you, hug you.”)

“…no matter what happens, hangga’t kaya mo pa (as long as you still can), Mommy, I’ll take you around, and you know, we’ll do it for you because we love you,” Piolo told his mother.
Amy became teary eyed when she spoke of what a good son Piolo is. According to her, the actor is a disciplined, good, loving man, who always prays and loves family above all else.
“I can’t ask for anything more,” Amy said in the vernacular.
“…he is the kind of son that every mom should have,” she also said.

Piolo grew up in a time when spanking was the most popular form of disciplining a child.
But his mother made sure that the punishment would also make all her children closer.
How did she do it?
She spanked them all no matter whose fault it was.

“It had to be all of them,” she said in the vernacular, adding that the siblings all had to get down in a prone position for the spanking.

This taught the children not to break the rules so that the others would not suffer unwarranted spanking. It also made them more protective of each other, forging a close bond that is just as strong today.

Piolo’s decision to join showbiz angered Amy
According to Amy, she never imagined that Piolo would join showbiz.
Piolo, she shared, was so shy as a child that he would immediately hide when visitors came to their home.
“Nagulat ako talaga kung paano humaharap sa camera. (I was really surprised at how he can face the camera),” she said.
When Amy first learned that Piolo had signed a showbiz contract, she was furious. It was after a two-week vacation here when he suddenly called to inform her that he had signed a contract.
“Galit na galit ako. (I was so angry.),” she said.
But Piolo’s siblings intervened and advised their mother to let Piolo do what he wants.
Piolo asked his mother to give him five years to try out show business.
It’s been 22 years, and Amy couldn’t be prouder.
“Ay, proud na proud ako. (Oh, I am so so proud.),” she said beaming.
