How can you repair a 'sexless marriage'?

3 min read

Sex is an important part of your marriage. It’s a time when you and your spouse can become intimate, and express your love for each other.

But for one reason or another, some couples stop having sex, and the lack of intimacy that results can become a real problem. Here are some helpful tips to repair your sexless marriage.

1. Identify what’s causing you to stop having sex

The first thing to do would be for you and your spouse to find out why you’re not having sex. It can be due to a number of reasons, such as a lack of trust, anxiety, misunderstandings, not spending enough time with each other etc.

Identifying the root of the problem and dealing with it is the first step in order to bring back the sex in your marriage.

2. Figure out how much sex works for the both of you

What seems like too little sex for one couple might already be a lot of sex for another. That’s why you and your spouse need to talk about how little sex is too little for you, and how much is too much sex.

It’s good to set your expectations so that the both of you are on the same page when it comes to how much sex you want to have in your marriage.

3. Make time for intimacy

Another step is to make time for intimacy. Some couples even schedule when they’ll have sex in the week. It might sound strange, but it does actually help, especially for busy couples.

Making time to be intimate with your spouse is important to keep your marriage strong, and keep the romance alive.

4. Be open when it comes to your sexual needs

Sometimes couples are too shy to tell each other their sexual needs. However, you have to understand that it’s okay to tell your wife or your husband if you’re unsatisfied, or if there’s a new position that you want to try out.

Sex isn’t taboo, and it’s a beautiful thing. Married couples need to communicate with each other and not be shy about their sexual needs. For all you know, that might be the only thing that’s keeping you and your spouse from having more sex in your marriage!

5. Make an effort to keep the romance alive

Lastly, couples should always make an effort to keep the romance alive. Marriages are a constant work-in-progress, and just because you’re super happy and romantic today, doesn’t mean that you’ll be the exact same way a couple of years from now.

That’s why couples need to make an effort to surprise each other, show their love for each other, and to fall in love with each other everyday.
