Ikea stores are coming soon to the Philippines!

21 Feb, 2018
Ikea stores are coming soon to the Philippines!

Local fans of the Swedish brand Ikea have something amazing to look forward to! Ikea Philippines will soon become a reality!

Ikea Philippines will soon become a reality!

A spokesman for Ikea’s worldwide franchisor recently shared that Ikea will soon be opening its doors in the Philippines after it found a local partner.

The rights have been awarded to a company called Ikano, according to spokesperson Josefin Thorell.

Ikea is known worldwide for its unique take on home furniture, and for popularizing ready-to-assemble furniture. They also sell kitchen appliances as well as other home accessories.

Additionally, IKEA Southeast Asia has also posted a job opening for a Manila-based designer last January.

In an email to ABS-CBN News, Thorell shared, “We are very happy to confirm that Inter IKEA Systems has taken the decision to open IKEA stores in the Philippines and that the franchise right for the Philippine market has been allocated to Ikano.”

Ikea currently has 411 locations worldwide.

Where would it be located?

According to a recent report, Ikea Philippines would be located in SM Mall of Asia. The supposed location would be between the SMX Convention Center, and the MoA Arena.

Additionally, it also seems like there are plans to have even more Ikea branches throughout the country. A second store would supposedly open near SM Fairview to serve residents of Quezon City and nearby communities.

Either way, we’re all looking forward to an Ikea Philippines finally opening! We can’t wait to try out their world-famous meatballs and hotdogs, and start shopping for the practical and useful home furniture!
