12-year-old Filipino boy kicked by Japanese national inside plane

Shinomiya Kosuke, 40, was arrested upon arrival at the NAIA Terminal 3 because he was reported to have kicked a 12-year-old passenger while on board the flight from Cagayan de Oro.

He kicked the boy because he reclined his seat

According to reports, the Japanese businessman was onboard Philippine Airlines Express flight PR 2522 from Cagayan de Oro to Manila.

One of the passengers, Joel Tan Chan, requested for police assistance after the Japanese national kicked his 12-year-old nephew who was traveling with him from Cagayan de Oro.

According to the incident report by the Manila International Airport Authority, Shinomiya kicked the 12-year old boy because he reclined his seat during the flight.

A complaint will be filed against the Japanese national

Upon the plane’s arrival, the Philippine National Police-Aviation Security Group dispatched a team to arrest Shinomiya.

A complaint is being readied by the PNP-Aviation Security Group against Shinomiya for violating the Anti-Violence Against Women and Children act which aims to protect women and children from violence and abuse.

Keeping your children out of harm’s way

As parents, seeing our kids get hurt physically or emotionally is not a good feeling. Which is why it’s very important to know what to do in order for us to keep our kids safe, and for our kids to know what they can do to keep themselves safe.

  • Always keep an eye on your kids whenever you’re outside.
  • Instead of avoiding strangers, teach your kids to know what types of behavior to look out for. They should keep away from adults who give them free gifts, asks them to keep a secret, touches their private parts, or asks them to come with them, then those are people that they should avoid.
  • Make sure that your kids inform you, a teacher, or a trusted adult if someone hurts them.
  • Look out for strangers that seem out of place in your child’s school, or daycare. Informing authorities of a suspicious person can help protect other children from harm.
  • Your children should know where to go or whom they should go to in case of any emergency, or in case they need help.
