5 Lessons parents and children can learn from Kid YouTubers

These kids are earning big bucks by simply doing what they enjoy, but they can teach us lessons beyond how to earn money online

Move aside, Disney Toy Collector, the kids rule YouTube now. You know them and love them: Ryan’s ToyReviews, Evan Tube HD, HobbyKidTV, and lots more. Your kids are glued to them every hour of screen time. Indeed, as the roster of YouTube influencers continues to grow, its stars seem to be getting younger and younger. Here are 5 things parents – and children – can learn from these Kid YouTubers.

Kid Youtubers, like the 7-year-old behind Ryan’s ToyReviews, are changing the game of social media. Ryan’s channel makes about $11 million a year simply from having fun and reviewing toys. But aside from the views and money, there are valuable lessons to be learned from these adorable mini-influncers. Here’s 5 of them.

1. It’s possible to earn doing what you love

Earning millions is great, but tell your kids (and yourself) that there is a more important lesson here. And that is: you can earn big bucks while having loads of fun doing what you enjoy.

2. Work-life balance is important

Though becoming a kid Youtuber is no doubt lucrative, what this phenomenon teaches us is the importance of not overdoing anything. Many of these channels just show regular kids doing regular things.

Any kid can do what these YouTube superstars do. And your kids can do it too – as long as there’s enough time to study, do chores, and of course, play!

3. Never lose that childlike wonder

Seeing kid YouTubers’ faces light up in amazement as they discover a new toy reminds us to cherish new experiences.

4. Sharing is important

According to Ryan’s Toys’ About page, most of the toys featured in the videos are donated to a local charity afterwards. The same is true for HobbyKidsTV. This is a great opportunity to teach your kids about sharing and giving.

5. Technology isn’t all bad

There’s no escaping the humongous role the digital world plays in our family’s life. As parents, we’re often wary of screen time, and suspicious of video games and mobile phones. It’s easy to lose sight that there is a good side to technology too. Not only can tech provide livelihood for families, it also helps connect us with one another. It allows us to share passions and joy, even if it’s from something as simple as unboxing something new.
