Kuya Kim has a good relationship with wife—but admits that being together 24/7 caused "kaunting friction"

Did you get just a tad bit annoyed at your spouse during the course of the pandemic? You're not the only one.

Kim Atienza shared about his move to another network and a realization he had from being together with his wife 24/7. Read about it here.

In this article, you’ll read:

  • Kim and Fely Atienza love story
  • What caused the friction between Kim Atienza and his wife and how they were able to overcome it.

At one point during the pandemic, did you feel just a tad bit annoyed or peeved at the presence of your spouse? Don’t be embarrassed if you have. It happens to the best of us, even to our favorite couples, like Kim Atienza and his wife Fely.

On the latest episode of the show Kapuso Mo, Jessica Soho where he was the guest, Kuya Kim talked about having a bit of friction with his spouse of almost 20 years at some point during the pandemic.

The new Kapuso

In his exclusive interview, Kim Atienza shared about his decision to move to the GMA Network, after being with ABS-CBN for 17 years. Kuya Kim said that the Kapuso network’s offer was too big an opportunity to pass on.

“The opportunity is just too big. And it’s not about the money. It’s the opportunity to be out there again,” said Kim.

The popular TV personality also shared some entertaining trivia about himself, such as being a collector of reptiles, fossils and different antiques (he owns some dinosaur eggs!), and classic motorcycles.

He even showed the viewers some of his favorite bikes, including one that he bought from now fellow Kapuso Dingdong Dantes, and the motorcycle he used on his first date with his wife.

Kim Atienza: a proud hubby to his wife Fely

Kim married Filipino-Taiwanese Felicia Hung in 2002, and have three children together.

In his social media accounts, you’ll see numerous posts of the TV personality sharing humblebrags about his wife’s super toned physique. It seems that Fely, an educator, also shares her husband’s interest in working out and adopting a healthy lifestyle.

It’s not only his wife’s lovely figure that Kim is very proud of. He also compliments her strength of character and always refers to her as his best friend. Last Valentine’s Day, Kim penned a heartfelt message to his wife on Instagram:

“After 20 valentine’s days together, our relationship has become deeper and deeper, more sumptuous and more delicious like the Bordeaux that you so love to drink! I love you so much my best friend, lover and wife with more abs than me. Happy Valentine’s day @feliciaatienza,” he wrote.

Because of their strong and lasting relationship, their close friends in the industry have dubbed Kim and Fely as a power couple or as millennials put it, relationship goals.

“Kaunting friction”

However, just like other married couples, Kim and Fely also encountered some problems during the pandemic. In his interview, the TV personality opened up about having a bit of friction with his wife at some point.

“Marami akong pinagdaanan this pandemic. My wife and I, we have a good relationship. Kaso, first time naming nagkasama ng 24/7. So nagkaroon kami ng kaunting friction, only to find out na hindi lang pala sa’min nangyayari ‘yon,” he said.

Other couples can definitely relate to what Kuya Kim said. Because after being cooped up in the house with your spouse all day and all night, it’s only normal that there will be conflict or some minor differences.

Couples fight. It’s part of marriage. What’s important is what you do to overcome those trials and stay together. And how you show your love in your partner’s darkest times.

Kim shared that this episode happened at the height of the ABS-CBN shutdown. As he was driving home from work, he cried and poured his heart out to God.

“I was in my motorcycle, and I was crying to Him. I said, ‘Lord, I worship you in the light. But now that it’s dark, I continue to worship you. And I praise you and your praise shall forever be in my lips.’  Nag-away kami ni misis noon eh. ‘Di kami nag-uusap. On my bed, tinabihan ako ni misis. Without even talking, without even having to apologize, she just gave me a big, big warm hug. And that’s when I felt na sabi ni Lord, ‘Kim, relax ka lang. Nandyan ako palagi.'” he said.
