One of every little girl’s greatest dreams is meeting her favorite princess—not something, sadly, that’s likely to come true.
One little girl out there, however, knows that fairytales sometimes happen in reality. This tot’s dreams of meeting a princess came true when she saw Shandace Lerma walking down the street in her bridal gown.
“[Shandace] and I got married last February, and during the photo shoot this little girl and her mom happened to be walking by,” groom Scott Robertson wrote.
The little girl was staring at the beautiful bride with wide-eyed wonder, Scott says, so the newlyweds stopped to say “Hi.”
Their moment of friendliness possibly made the little girl’s entire year. “[She] thought my beautiful wife was the Princess from her favorite book (the one she’s holding).”
Definitely an understandable mistake to make — the bride looks gorgeous! Their bridal photographer, Stephanie Cristalli, couldn’t resist snapping some shots of the heartwarming meeting.
The book is Wilkie Collins’ The Woman in White, a famous Victorian novel featuring a mysterious lady in white. Its complex mystery plot isn’t exactly typical princess-y material, so it’s impressive that this tot is reading at such an advanced level!
The bride gave her adorable fan a rose from her bouquet.
Because the newlyweds were having their photoshoot in Ballad, a Seattle neighbourhood, the little girl christened the bride the Princess of Ballard.
Four months on, she still believes she met the Princess of Ballard (and no one tell her otherwise!). A photo of her with the bride now adorns their wall at home, her mom told Buzzfeed News. “She’ll walk up to it and be like, ‘There’s the Princess of Ballard!'”
Children have an endless capacity for wonder — it’s one of the most precious things about them. So let’s hope this little girl never stops believing she ‘met a princess’. Hold on to that magical sense of imagination, little one!
