Meet Marai Chan, the adorable mini-muse of one of Japan's poetic photographers, Kotori Kawashima.
The enigmatic little girl is the daughter of one of Kawashima's friends and is the main subject of his successful photobook which became a best-seller in Japan.
With her pinch-worthy rosy cheeks and her wide array of aww-inspiring expressions, she is such a natural in front of the camera that it makes the photographs all the more genuine.
Marai Chan, whose name stands for 'Little Miss Future', takes us back to a simpler time when we all could find wonder in the littlest of things.
"I think that children are free, it is very interesting to listen to what they say, not boring to watch them, and they are so energetic," Kawashima told mymodernmet.com. "Everyone has a childish side, so I love to find it in my friends and people I meet for work."
