The entertainment industry was stunned when news broke of the tragic fate actress Maritoni Fernandez’ sister, Aurora. In an official statement released a few days after the murder, the 47-year-old actress described her slain sister as an ‘exceptional human being’.
Maritoni urged the media and the public to grant her family their much needed privacy during this difficult time.
“In the early hours of September 10th, we lost my sister Aurora Moynihan. We as a family have one priority and truth at this point in time and that is to protect her children from further pain and suffering so that they, and we as a family may take this time to grieve, mourn but most of all celebrate the life of this exceptional human being I will forever have the privilege of calling my sister,” said Maritoni. “Thank you for your understanding.”

“We ask the public at this time to respect our need for privacy so that we may continue to heal in our own way,” requested the actress. “During this time, we will give due diligence to the investigation process by not making any further statements that may jeopardize the integrity of this inquiry.”
Aurora’s lifeless body was found in the early hours of September 11, Sunday along Temple Drive, Brgy. Ugong Norte, Quezon City.
She reportedly suffered a fatal gunshot wound to the chest, a cardboard sign had been lain over her, saying: “Drug pusher ng mga celebrities, kasunod na kayo!”

According to GMA news, witnesses saw unidentified men on board a silver Toyota Fortuner with Aurora before they heard the gunshots.
The suspects had fled after the shooting. Investigators reportedly found drugs at the scene.
As of this writing, investigators are still determining the motive behind the killing and the identities of the suspects.
