Mom was forced to hold her twin babies as they were killed by her ex

Mom was forced to hold her twin babies as they were killed by her ex

In a terrible case of murder-suicide, a 22-year-old woman not only witnessed her twin baby girls' murders but she was forced to hold them as it happened.

Florida, U.S.A. — Megan Hiatt, 22, went through the unimaginable: the lone survivor of a horrific crime which took the lives of her father, Travis Hiatt, 49, and her 5-month-old twin baby girls, Hayden Rose and Kayden Reese.

The suspect, her ex-partner Gawain Rushane Wilson, 28, committed suicide soon after murdering Travis, Rose, and Reese and seriously injuring Megan.

The Florida mom was forced to hold her twin babies as they were killed by her ex.

Her mom Melissa Bateh believes God was still there even in her daughter’s darkest hours.

She said in an interview with First Coast News, “He gave Megan the strength to drag her body across the room. She had to crawl through her babies’ blood, then through the shooter’s blood, and to her dad to hear his last words. He wanted her to tell her brother that he was the best son ever and he loved him. That was God’s hand.”

Melissa describes the suspect as “controlling” and that there were signs that he was prone to violent behavior.

Though there were signs of abuse, Megan wanted to keep their family together. “She felt like her girls deserved a family, and too many people give up,” said Melissa.

Neighbors heard the shots and soon called the authorities.

Megan Hiatt survived five gun shot wounds and is now recovering at a Jacksonville hospital.
