Paano mag register sa BIR
Dahil sa COVID-19 at quarantine, maraming Pilipino ang nagtatayo ng mga online business upang maka-survive. Gayunpaman, biglaang naglabas ang Bureau of Internal Revenue o BIR ng Revenue Memorandum. Nakasaad dito na mayroon na lamang hanggang July 31 ang mga online businesses para mag-register at magbayad ng required taxes.

Ito naman ay kinikwestyon ngayon ng ilang senador dahil hindi nga naman ito makatutulong sa mga mamamayan.
Pahayag ni Deputy Revenue Commissioner Arnel Guballa:
“Not only partner sellers/merchants, but also other stakeholders involved such as the payment gateways, delivery channels, internet service providers and other facilitators.”

Bagama’t noon pa ay existing na ang batas na ito, aminado ang BIR na hirap silang kolektahin ang tax sa mga online sellers dahil walang physical na shop ang mga ito. Dahil dito, kinakailangan ng mga online sellers na mag-register ng kanilang mga online businesses. Ito ay upang magkaroon din ng data ang BIR sa kanila at makolektahan sila ng nakasaad na buwis.
Giit pa ni Guballa, “Likewise, they are encouraged to voluntarily declare their past transactions subject to pertinent taxes and pay the taxes due thereon, without corresponding penalty, when declared and paid on or before the said date.”
Dagdag pa niya, ito naman daw ay act of good citizenship at ito ay mayroon namang benefits para sa kanila. Kabilang na rito ang low-interest loan program ng DTI at maari ring ma-qualify para sa small business wage subsidy program.

Para makapag-register:
- Pumunta lamang sa pinakamalapit na RDO o BIR branch sa inyo. Kumuha ng BIR Form 1901 at BIR Form 1906.
- Magdala ng photocopy ng Mayor’s Business Permit, Professional Tax Receipt na issued ng DTI o LGU.
Kung kumpleto ang mga documents, maaring mai-release ang TIN sa loob ng 5 working days.

Sa estima ng Department of Labor and Employment o DOLE, nasa 10 million na manggagawa ang maaring mawalan ng trabaho ngayong taon dahil sa pandemya.
Sa ngayon ay mayroon ng 2.6 million na natanggal sa trabaho simula noong Marso. Ito ay dahil sa pagsasara ng ilang kompanya o pagkalugi ng mga business.
Banggit pa ni Labor Sec Bello, “Karamihan po ‘yan sa service sector. Malaki po ang tourism, ‘yung allied businesses like restaurants, then transportation.”
Gayunpaman, nag-request naman umano ang DOLE ng 40 million pesos na budget mula sa House of Representatives para sa mga planong recovery programs.
