“I would have to say shopping in the Souks. I was just in awe witnessing the art of Moroccan haggling first hand.
Moroccans are intensely passionate about selling their products— they really look you in the eye while they explain every little detail so generously which makes you appreciate the story behind each item.”
Morrocan trip tips from Patty
For a Morrocan trip, there are 3 things Patty took with her and wants to share with everyone.
According to her, the locales only reciprocate the attitude you show them. Although Patty did not deny that Morocco is just like every other country where you will encounter both the good and the bad. She reminds aspiring travelers to not let such encounters to ruin the authentic experience the nation has to offer.
- Understand that there’s art in haggling.
“If you are fair with your negotiations and haggle respectfully, they will meet you halfway.”
For Patty, getting a good deal goes beyond paying for something at a cheaper price. She believes that a ‘good deal’ involves supporting the locals from shopkeepers to artisans who handcraft the product themselves.
- Make an early visit to the souks.
The area is less crowded, everything is still orderly, and everyone is just generally nicer. According to Patty, she initially got her best deals because the negotiations were done during their ‘after-breakfast’ mood!

“…from the food, architecture, interiors, merchandise, and people are absolutely stunning in real life and in photos! It’s a sensory overload —the colors are so vibrant, the scents are so alluring, and the people are so charming! I was completely smitten by Morocco!”
