3 Tricks to protect your skin without sunblock

3 Tricks to protect your skin without sunblock3 Tricks to protect your skin without sunblock

You don't have to spend the summer months with your face caked with sunblock with these sun damage fighting hacks!

As temperatures rise, so too must your level of skin protection.

Though sunblock is still your first line of defense, there are other measures which you can apply all year round to help protect your skin from harmful UV Rays when summer is in full swing.

1. Eat foods that prevent sun damage

What we put into our bodies does wonders in shielding our skin from damage. How? By giving us those much needed antioxidants, of course!

Prolonged sun exposure can increase free radicals which, in turn, cause wrinkles and premature aging. In some cases, it can even mutate into cancer cells.

Some foods found to be rich in anti-oxidants are: tomatoes, green leafy vegetables, watermelon, dark chocolate, fish, green tea, berries, broccoli, and almonds.

2. Make a 'safe schedule'

Sun damage is not only a threat when the sun is out but we should also be wary on overcast, cloudy days.

Even if the weather's cool, UV rays can still be present but, typically, the peak hours are between 10:00 am to 4:00 pm.

3. Change your perception of 'Summer Wear'

When summer is usually viewed as a time to 'bare it all', protecting your skin from harmful sun damage also means covering up a bit, especially when you spend a lot of time outdoors.

Many brands offer UV-protective clothing that's functional but still fashionable. Hats and sunglasses are also must-haves!
