Though Kylie Padilla is obviously enjoying being a mom, there is one thing that could make it even better. In an interview with PEP, she confided that her dad, veteran actor Robin Padilla and her soon-to-be husband, actor Aljur Abrenica are not speaking to one another.
What drove her to confirm the rift between the two was negative comments fans made about Aljur after he admitted that Robin had not seen his grandson, Alas Joaquin, since he was born on August 2017.
“I think masyado nang matagal na tahimik ako. At saka hindi lang naman si Papa at si AJ (Aljur) ‘yung nandito sa sitwasyon na ‘to, nandito rin ako, di ba?” she said, adding that her father just wants them to get married before he reaches out to his future son-in-law. “Gusto niya ikasal muna kami, that’s all.”
(I think I’ve been silent for too long. And this situation does not only involve Papa and AJ (Aljur), it also concerns me. He wants us to get married first, that’s all.)
The couple announced their engagement in July 2017.

As for her own relationship with her dad, Kylie shared that she’s never wanting of support from him.
“Si Papa naman, hindi naman siya tumigil, e, sa kaka-reach out. Palagi naman niya ako kinakamusta kahit hindi pa lumalabas si Alas. ‘Kamusta, anak? Nahirapan ka ba? Kumakain ka ba?'” she recounted.
(Papa never stops reaching out. He always asks how I am doing, even before I gave birth to Alas. (He would ask) How are you? Are you having a hard time? Have you eaten?)
The 24-year-old actress also emphasized that, since both she and Aljur come from a ‘broken family’, they want to make sure everything is set before they tie the knot. She also stressed that she doesn’t want to get married just because it’s what everybody wants.
“At ayoko lang ‘yung napilit kami para lang ma-please yung mga tao or, I’m sorry, para maging okay si Papa. Pero kaya kong tiisin ‘yun. Kasi alam ko sa sarili ko na hindi pa kami handa, hindi pa talaga,” she reiterated.
(And I don’t want us to be pressured into (getting married) just to please people, or I’m sorry, just so Papa will be okay. I can endure that because I know that we’re not ready yet, not just yet.)
As of this writing, no specific date has been set for the wedding. But we’re sure that when that day comes, Robin will escort his daughter down the aisle with a big smile.
