Sara Duterte miscarries, loses two of her triplets in the womb

8 Sep, 2016

While delivering a speech at the change of command ceremony of Task Force Davao, Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio shared the sad news that she recently suffered “fetal demise”, losing two of her three babies while in the womb.

According to Medline Plus, “A miscarriage is the spontaneous loss of a fetus before the 20th week of pregnancy. (Pregnancy losses after the 20th week are called stillbirths.) Women who lose a baby after 20 weeks of pregnancy receive different medical care. This is called premature delivery or fetal demise and requires immediate medical attention.”

The doctor broke the tragic news to her on the morning of September 5, three days before she delivered the speech.

Sara has two kids with husband, lawyer Manases Carpio. Their eldest Sharky is 7 years old and their youngest, Stingray, is, 3.

The mom-of-two also shared that the remaining baby is still “fighting it out”.

Two days prior to receiving the sad news, the Davao mayor visited the wake of victims of the Davao night market blast.

It was just a month ago when she begged off from attending Kadaywan festivities due to her delicate condition.
