It may sound unbelievable, but you read it right. Justice M L Raghunath recently revealed to a leading daily about the ‘Maggi Case.’
As we all know, Maggi is an international brand of seasonings, instant soups, and noodles that originated in Switzerland. It has always been many people’s fast food-Maggi.
Serving Instant Noodles Leading to Divorce Cases
A particular divorce case revolved around a wife’s inability to cook food. The husband filed for divorce because his wife only serves instant noodles. Apart from instant meals, the woman knew nothing about cooking food.
According to Justice Raghunath, the man told revealed that his wife does not know how to prepare anything other than Maggi noodles. He was also complaining that whenever his wife goes to the grocery store, the wife returns with only instant noodles.
“Breakfast, lunch, and dinner were all noodle-centric,” said the husband.
Justice Raghunath labelled the case as the ‘Maggi case,’ claiming the couple eventually divorced by mutual consent. He further said that this case came up when he was the district judge in Bellari Karnataka.
Simple Cases That May Lead To Divorce
Aside from the mentioned case, Justice Raghunath also revealed that he had encountered many such petty cases. They came to him when he was in the sessions court of Mysuru.
According to him, there are multiple times when he receives petitions from couples over petty issues. It includes problems when the wife may have put some extra salt in the food.
One of the cases he dealt with came from a wife who claimed that the groom did not get the colour of the suit right. Concerning this, Justice Raghunath aims to strengthen the record for young married couples.
“A couple has to stay together for a year before filing for a divorce case,” he said.
He added that if there were no such laws, there would have been instances where the divorce petition would be filed directly from the wedding hall.
