The latest casualty in the rapidly escalating drug war death toll is a Pasay drug suspect, who had already surrendered, and his 5-year-old son.
A Philstar report identified the victims as alleged drug pusher as 44-year-old Domingo Manosca and his son, Francisco.
According to the report, there was a knock on the door of their home in Mahogany Street, Pasay at around 4:45 a.m. on Sunday (December 11) before the suspects opened fire, killing Domingo and fatally injuring his son. The 5-year-old died at the Pasay City General Hospital.
“It’s useless, it would not bring back my son’s life,” Elizabeth Manosca told the Philippine Star in an interview.
Investigations are currently underway to determine who was responsible for the crime.
Southern Police District director Chief Superintendent Tomas Apolinario told the Philippine Star that, last November, Domingo, who was a known drug pusher in the area, surrendered to authorities as part of Oplan Tokhang.
According to an Aksyon report, 114,833 surrendered back in July 2016 under PNP’s Oplan Tokhang.

Grandaughter of Dagupan drug suspect surrenderee slain in August
Back in August, a 5-year-old girl was killed in Dagupan. Her grandfather Maximo, 53, had surrendered when he found out his name had been added to the PNP’s Drug Watch List.
According to an Inquirer report, an unidentified man opened fire at around 12:30 p.m. while they were having lunch inside their home in Barangay Mayombo, Dagupan City. Maximo sustained severe injuries while his grandaughter Danica May suffered a fatal gunshot to the head, which killed her instantly.
Back in October, President Rodrigo Duterte told Al-Jazeera that the deaths of children are collateral damage on the massive war on drugs that have been linked to rampant killings of drug suspects. Two months later, however, he denied any involvement in extra-judicial killings, denouncing it as an ‘unmanly, dirty job’ that neither he nor the police are involved in.
Since he assumed office, nearly 6,000 men, women, and children have been killed by his “drug war”.
