Sunshine Dizon on how to move on from a failed relationship: "Don't get mad. Get beautiful"

The 33-year-old actress shares helpful and insightful tips on how to cope with the end of a relationship. Check out her two-part interview, here!

It’s been a difficult few weeks for Sunshine Dizon. But despite a publicized separation, and a messy legal battle, the 33-year-old actress still makes it a point to care for herself.

It wasn’t just her controversial separation from husband of 6 years Timothy Tan that has been gaining the public’s attention; she also looks even more stunning these days.

It has just been a week since Sunshine attended a court hearing for the lawsuit she filed against her husband and the alleged “third party” in their relationship. At the court, the press asked her if she was ready to forgive.

“He will always be the father of my children,” she responded. “But forgiveness, that is something that, you know… I don’t know, I don’t know (yet).”

In an interview with celebrity cosmetic surgeon Dr. Vicki Belo, Sunshine offered some useful tips on how to move on from the end of a relationship.

“First thing that you will have to do is to accept that there is a problem, address it head on. Hindi na uso ngayon yung iiyak ka na lang at pupunta sa isang tabi. Huwag, huwag ganun,” said Sunshine.

(It’s not really acceptable these days that you simply cry in a corner. Don’t do that.)

“Like, what I did was I made a conscious effort and decision to take out the negativity in my life and just really push through,” continued the mom of two. “And then, I also realized (that) it’s about time to really give myself the much needed love it needs.”

She continued that if you can’t find love from outside sources, you have to learn to look inwardly and find love there.

“That’s not being selfish,” she said reassuringly. “Wala kang ibang aasahan kundi sarili mo lang din so dapat ayusin mo ikaw.”

(You have no one but yourself so you have to make sure to fix yourself.)

“Do something that will make you happy and better yourself,” emphasized the newly single mom.

“Make a conscious effort to love yourself more.”

She also believes spending time with your family, friends, and children can help you cope.

She also emphasised the value of having faith in God.

“Strengthen your faith, kasi above all, pag wala ka niyan, talagang mahirap, mahirap bumangon.”

(Strengthen your faith, because above all, if you don’t have faith, it would be really difficult. It will be difficult to get back up again.)

Lastly, he believes what helped her is that she made a “conscious effort to love yourself more.”

“Feel beautiful every day,” said Sunshine. “And then I believe everything will just fall into place.”
