10 Things that pregnant women hate hearing from people

10 Things that pregnant women hate hearing from people

Being pregnant is great, but sometimes the people around you can be annoying. Especially whenever they say any of these 10 things!

1. “It will be hard to lose the baby weight”

This is something that almost all pregnant moms will hear at least once during their pregnancy. The weight gain and hormonal changes that happen during pregnancy can make a lot of moms feel self-conscious as a result. They don’t need anyone else to make them feel worse.

2. Horror stories about giving birth

Every mom has their own unique birth story. And the last thing that moms-to-be want to hear would be how painful or terrible giving birth is! The next time you’re tempted to share your birthing horror story, think twice before doing so.

3. “You gained weight!”

No, just no. Never ever tell this to a pregnant woman, or to any woman for that matter.

4. Wow, you’re just 20 weeks pregnant?

This is just like telling a pregnant woman that she’s gained weight. Not really a good idea, so it’s best to just keep your opinions to yourself when it comes to these things.

5. Are you sure you’re not having twins?

If you’ve seen the ultrasounds, and there’s only one baby, then there’s no point in asking if they’re having twins or not. No amount of hoping and wishing can suddenly make a pregnant woman have twins.

6. Make the most of your life right now while you can!

Of course, a mom’s life will change once they have a child. However, this doesn’t mean that it’s necessarily a bad thing. Having a child is a big and exciting change, and it’s not really nice to tell them that they should make the most of their life while they can.

7. Was it planned?

Does it even matter if the child was planned or not? What matters most is that they’re bringing a child into this world, and that is always a good thing.

8. I hope that you’ll be a breastfeeding mom

While it’s true that breastfeeding is the healthiest option for babies, it’s totally up to the child’s parents, and specifically, the mother, to decide if they want to exclusively breastfeed or not. Only a mother knows what’s best for her and her baby.

9. Finally!

It’s not your place to tell a pregnant mom that it took them long enough to have a baby, for all you know, they might have had a lot of trouble trying to conceive, and telling them that it took them a while is very insensitive.

Just be excited for the pregnancy and leave it at that.

10. “You might go into labor later than you expect”

The last thing a new mom wants is for a longer pregnancy. She wants to see her beloved child as soon as possible, so telling her that she might give birth later isn’t exactly a nice thing to say.
