Sa aming pakikipag-usap kay Mommy Gracie, inalam namin kung bakit nga ba budgeting tips ang main focus niya. At paano nga ba siya nagkaroon ng hilig sa pagba-blog?
“When I became a mom, my husband and I have decided to slow down on our business to focus on our child. And because I love reading blogs, I got inspired to create my own too. My blog has a different name back then but almost same content about mommy hacks, budgeting and practical living. But it was only year 2017 when I’ve decided to rebrand the blog to “Tipid Mommy”. Our financial adjustment to one income family, finance lessons that we’ve learned from our mistakes are not just for our family but for many Filipino Families. Our test to testimony of God’s restoration in our family. And that also inspired me to create an online community [which is] Tipid Living.”
Bukod sa kanyang blog na kung saan maraming mommy ang nagbabasa para sa mga mom hacks. Mayroon ding Tipid Living community na binuo si Mommy Gracie. Ito ay bukas for moms na katulad niya at talaga namang nagiging interactive ang mga members nito dahil nakaka-relate sila sa isa’t isa.
How to be matipid?
Bilang isang expert sa budgeting para sa pamilya, tinanong namin si Mommy Gracie kung ano ang isang payo niya at talagang nasusunod niya bilang isa ring mommy.
“Live simply and give generously.”
Ito ang kanyang simpleng sagot na talaga namang madaling intindihin. Paliwanag niya pa,
“Being frugal and matipid doesn’t mean madamot or kuripot. We believe as family that the purpose of every blessing is to be a blessing to others. Aside from saving for the future, being good steward, the goal of having financial independence is to bless other people. Because we are only stewards. We don’t own anything, everything is owned by God.”
Money lessons from Tipid Mommy
Magkaroon ng clear financial goals. Hindi langp pansarili, dapat involved din ang iyong asawa sa pagdedesisyon mo. Ano ang mga financial goals niyo bilang mag-asawa? Kailangan niyo bang mag-save up para sa future ng inyong mga anak? For sure. Bukod dito, alamin din ang mga bagay na kailangan niyong pagkagastusan o bilhin ng urgent.
Mahalaga na alam niyo ang inyong priorities.
“Always decide as one – never sign something that you haven’t discuss with your spouse yet, never invest into something without consulting your partner first and never make a financial commitment alone. By deciding as one, you can get an insight from each other, pray together, balance everything and avoid future conflicts.”
How to stay in budget during the quarantine
Ngayong quarantine, aminado si Mommy Gracie na marami silang kinailangang gawing adjustments. Dumoble ang kanilang food allowance, tumaas din ang mga utility bills. Pero paano nga ba siya nakakapag-budget pa rin sa panahong ito?
“Stick to your budget, all moms can relate that our meal expense almost doubled this quarantine period. But by setting a limit to our food budget, we can avoid overspending. Also is it important to be realistic in setting our budget especially on Food Expense this quarantine period.”
Marami sa atin ang nag-a-adjust pa rin sa new normal. Para sa family ni Mommy Gracie, ito ang kanilang mga ginagawa upang makapag-adjust at settle sa tinatawag na new normal.
“We are still in the process of adopting to what they say the new normal. Some changes we’ve noticed are that we became more healthy eaters, more fruits and veggies on our weekly meal menu, turmeric tea changed our normal hot choco drink. My husband is still the pass holder so he does the groceries. He is now learning the art of managing our food budget. We became more intentional especially in sanitizing the house. And more forgiving and flexible when it comes to our schedule at home.“
