If you’ve conceived during the pandemic, your life is most likely pretty stressful and uncertain at times. In fact, you deserve to have relief in the form of a smooth, pain-free labour, and the ability to choose a baby name with zero effort.
What to read in this article:
- Baby name predictions for 2021
- Magical baby name trend
Those are the absolute minimum that you deserve for having a pandemic pregnancy.
Thankfully, the good people at Nameberry have come up with baby name predictions in 2021, and there’s not a Corona or Vyress in sight!
Baby Name Predictions for 2021
Magical Baby Name Trend
Sophie Kihm, Nameberry’s resident name guru to the stars predicts a rise in “magical” names for 2021. Think superheroes, gods and goddesses and those that relate to something with magical powers.
Some examples are:
- Adonis
- Kali
- Titan
- Persephone
- Messiah
- Guinevere
- Lilith
- Lucifer
Cottagecore Names
On a similar note, the cottagecore aesthetic is predicted to have an influence on baby names for the coming year. The common dreams of escaping quarantine in favour of an idyllic life in the countryside will likely result in baby names such as:
- Bear
- Clover
- Flora
- Maisie
- River
- Opal
- Fletcher
- Jane
- Rowan
- Faye
Names Ending in ‘ari’
I know of the most adorable little boy named Ari, but apparently, it’s going to be a trend for 2021, just with some added details at the beginning.
Names include:
- Akari
- Emari
- Azari
- Camari
- Kiari
Billie Eilish
Pop culture often influences baby names, and teen pop sensation Billie Eilish is no exception. Born Billie Eilish Pirate Baird O’Connell, the pop icon has become in inspiration for all names toyboy-ish.
Finneas is Billie’s older brother’s name, expected to rise in popularity alongside some of these similar monikers:
- Frankie
- Stevie
- Josie
- Teddy
- Pirate

Japanese Baby Names
This is one of my favourite baby name predictions in 2021. There’s something really beautiful about Japanese names. Here are some examples:
- Aiko
- Amaya
- Akuma
- Kyomi
- Yuki
- Ren
- Kaori
Buh-BYE COVID-related names
We’ve seen the back of 2021, so we’re going to see the end of all names relating to COVID-19. Say goodbye to Cora and Cova along with other similar names like Coralie, Coral and Corey.
Direction baby names
It may have been seen as a rather bold move to name your child North when their surname is West, but Kimye did it (if we can still call them that amidst all the talk of divorce?) and they may have started a trend.
2021 can expect to see names of all different directions such as:
- North
- Westley
- Easton
- Southern
Ever names are also predicted to be on the rise, like these:
- Ever
- Everleigh
- Everlyn
- Everson
- Everton
- Everest
- Everard
Girls’ Names With a Long A
No explanation required for this one, but here are some examples:
- Ada
- Haven
- Maeve
- Ayla
- Hazel
- Adelaide
- Mabel
