The sun is out and shining bright for two young Filipinas.
Nine-year old Krystal Brimner and 10-year old Isabeli Elizalde have landed the lead role the Manila run of musical show “Annie”, this September, at the Newport Performing Arts Theater in Resorts World.
Brimner bagged the Best Child Performer award during the 2015 Metro Manila Film Fest for her role as “Angel” in “Honor thy Father”.
Brimner is half-Pinoy, half-Scottish. She started performing when she was just four years old. She was part of ABS-CBN’s 2nd i-Shine Talent Camp in 2013.
However, this is the first time Elizalde will be performing professionally. Isabeli is the daughter of author and model, Bianca Araneta-Elizalde.

“I’m really happy that I’ve gone so far, and that I’ve made it this far, and that now, I am Annie– I am now part of the play,” said Elizalde to PEP.ph.
“Annie is very positive, which is me. I like being positive always,” Brimner said.
“Annie’s nice, she cares, and she’s careful,” Brimner added.
On the next page, the two talk about auditioning in front of theatre royalty.
The two were chosen out of hundreds of girls who participated in the live and online auditions held in April.
Both girls sang snippets of songs from the musical including “Tomorrow”. Their renditions of the song impressed the play’s director, Michael Williams, as well as Menchu Lauchengco-Yulo, one of the actors.
“When the auditions were over I said, ‘Finally, it’s done!’ And then they told me that I was part of Annie, and I was super excited that I got the role,” said Brimner.
“The auditions were fine. I actually liked performing in front of Tita Menchu and Tito Michael because I knew the songs and I got to sing them. I wasn’t so pressured,” Elizalde, on her part, recalled.
Meanwhile, RWM Chief Operations Manager for Entertainment, Alou Almaden, shared her excitement and gave RWM’s commitment to the production.
“We’re very excited about Annie. We had so many challenges before we actually got the rights for the musical from MTI New York. Rest assured, RWM is behind Full House Theater Company and Ultimate Entertainment throughout the musical’s run,” said Almaden.
The musical will open on September 30, 2016 at the Newport Performing Arts Theater in Resorts World Manila. We can’t wait until it’s just a day awaaaaayyy!
