Unknown condition causes girl to sneeze 8,000 times a day and doctors don’t know why

Unknown condition causes girl to sneeze 8,000 times a day and doctors don’t know why

“No-one has seen anything like this before and they are all giving her different things, but nothing is working,” the girl’s mother said.

Three weeks ago, nine-year-old Ira Saxena began sneezing. Soon after it started, when Ira emitted around 10 involuntary sneezes a minute, her mother realized that what her daughter was experiencing wasn’t normal.

“Three weeks ago she just woke up sneezing and she has not stopped,” the nine-year-old girl’s mother, Priya, said in a Mail Online story.

“It started slowly and has progressed to become more constant and violent. The doctors are saying it is possibly an incorrect signal being sent from her brain or a tic, but nobody can be sure.”

Doctors have already ruled out common causes such as colds and allergies. Until now, no one was able to pin point the exact cause of Ira’s condition.

“She is not allergic to anything and has been given, steroids, antihistamines and a nasal spray, but she is just not responding to anything.

“No-one has seen anything like this before and they are all giving her different things, but nothing is working.”

So far, only hypnotherapy has helped Ira with her condition, but its effects were only temporary; the sneezing fits began once the session finished.

Now Priya has made homeopathy appointment in hopes of finding a cure for her daughter.

‘The one blessing is she sleeps fine, it is the only time when she is not sneezing and she can sleep right through the night,” she said.

Since the condition started, Ira has been staying home. Thankfully, her school has been very understanding.

“She tried to go to back, but only lasted for one morning before she had to come home because she was just sneezing so much,” Priya added. “This is robbing her of her life. It is so frustrating and she is being very brave.”

According to Mail online, in 2009, 12-year-old Lauren Johnson from Virginia, sneezed an estimated one thousand times a day; she was eventually diagnosed with a throat infection.

It then sent her immune system into haywire trying to fight off the infection, which was manifested by sneezing.

Meanwhile, last year, Texan Katelyn Thronley started having sneezing bouts, and to this days doctors are still figuring out what was causing it.
