But are you sure the pearls in your favorite milk tea are really made of Tapioca?
A news reporter in Qingdao, China recently unearthed this secret that not all milk tea pearls are made of tapioca.
After drinking milk tea with pearls which he purchased from a local shop, he went to the hospital to undergo a CT scan.
He was shocked to see undigested tapioca pearls clearly on the scan.
When their team conducted undercover interviews in various milk tea shops, none of the people working in the shops seemed to know why this happened.
However, at one shop, they discovered that there are indeed fake milk tea pearls. One of the staff, who didn’t know he was being recorded spilled the beans, “They’re all made at chemical plants. To put it bluntly, they’re made from the soles of leather shoes and old tyres.”
Though this not mean fake milk tea has reached our shores, it still doesn’t hurt to be careful, especially when it comes to the health and safety of our loved ones.
