What fruits are forbidden for new mothers and why are they forbidden?

What fruits are forbidden for new mothers and why are they forbidden?

During pregnancy, there are many foods that mothers can't eat. After giving birth, there are still some things that are forbidden. Why are they forbidden? And what fruits are forbidden for new mothers?

Forbidden fruits for new mothers. Why are they forbidden to eat?

A major concern for mothers from pregnancy until childbirth is food. Everything a mother eats will directly affect her baby. So, what are some forbidden fruits that breastfeeding mothers should not eat?

1. Citrus fruits

Who would have thought that oranges, which are rich in vitamin C and are a favorite among many, should be avoided by breastfeeding mothers, including lemons, kiwis, strawberries, pineapples, and grapes? When a mother eats these fruits and the baby drinks breast milk, it can cause an allergic reaction, diaper rash, irritation of the digestive system, diarrhea, or even vomiting.

2. Jackfruit

When a nursing mother eats jackfruit, ancient people believed that it would cause severe headaches, diarrhea, vomiting, and most importantly, a lack of milk for the baby.

3. Durian

In ancient times, people believed that when a nursing mother ate durian, it would cause her to experience headaches similar to those associated with jackfruit, but more severe. This could cause her to lose consciousness or become stubborn. It was also believed that durian would cause the new mother to lose milk supply and experience stomach cramps

4. Berries and prunes

Berries can cause gas in babies, which can cause problems with their digestive system. If you experience these symptoms after eating these fruits, stop eating them immediately and consult your doctor.

In addition to fruits, new mothers should also avoid foods like caffeine, chocolate, eggs, and fish, as they can affect the baby’s digestive system and cause allergic reactions.Remember: each baby and mother is unique. What works for others might not work for you—and that’s okay. Seek support from lactation consultants, support groups, or maternal health professionals. If you accidentally eat a triggering fruit, don’t panic—watch baby carefully and adjust as needed.
