A first-time father, the rookie stresses very easily and always seems unsure of what to do. This dad is clueless about handling situations involving children but learns quick. This unseasoned dad sees the joy in all the little things his family brings, before transitioning into one of these other dad types.
The Protector
The protector dad protects his children like a lion protects his cubs. This daddy type comes to the rescue in the nick of time when his kids are about to feel the wrath of mummy, despite them being in the wrong. More often, this relationship applies to fathers and their daughters. The protector dad fosters a strong relationship between his kids compared to the other daddys. Of course, if mummy is the enemy, which kid wouldn’t run to daddy for consoling?
The Invisible
The invisible dad is not around most of the time, popping in and out of their children’s lives at his own convenience. This dad is pretty much detached from the entire family and lacks compassion and interest in getting to know his family.

Equipped with the latest gadgets Apple or Samsung has to offer, the techie dad can be found engrossed with technological products at home most of the time. The best person to fix up your television or help with your computer glitches, he will be the greatest tech support you’ll ever have.
The Follower
Abides by mummy’s rules and household regulations almost 95% of the time and allows her to call the shots. “Go ask your mother” and “If your mother finds out…” are the fundamental sentences a typical father follower would say. The follower dad lives by the “no-hassle rule”, its easier to agree with everything and anything to avoid any fuss.
The Bo Chap
This dad type is along similar lines to the invisible father type. He is physically there at home, but not mentally. His heart is not invested in any household talks or bonding and usually wishes he was somewhere else. The Bo Chap dad will respond to you only if you initiate the interaction, but very rarely goes out of his way to do something for someone else.
The Foodie

The planner of family meal outings and the household chef, the foodie has a flair for cooking and feeding his family with the best meals he can offer. This dad can be found attentively watching the Asian Food Channel, reading a food magazine and performing his own rendition of culinary arts in the kitchen. The best way to bond with the foodie dad is to follow him grocery shopping or help be his kitchen assistant. It will be a guaranteed blast.
The Sloth
Are the words “I will do it soon” or “can you help me get (this/that)” frequently echoing throughout your house? Congratulations, you have a sloth living on your couch! This dad does mean no harm, loves to be cupped in the comfort of television and food, this type of dad are generally lazy. But be sure that when the time comes, this dad will gather all his strength and step up to the plate in a heartbeat.
The King
Always acts like he is in the right and is domineering. The king seldom helps out in the household chores. He spends lavishly and constantly has to have the best of everything. The king dad type has the last say in any family discussion, its his way or the highway. Out of all the dad types, the king has the most friction with his kids.
The Businessman

The businessman dad is constantly busy with work, on conference calls or sending out emails. This dad does not pamper his kids like the protector but teaches his kids a thing or two about ways to invest or make money in children terms. Businessman daddies are a firm believer in ethics and respect. A great disciplinarian when he has the time.
The Pusher
The pusher strives for aces in his children. He sets the bar of achievement really high for his kids’ academic and athletic abilities. At the dinner table, it is not uncommon for the pusher to squeeze in motivational pep talks about winning or comparing his kids across family and/or friends.
