Andrew Garfield at Elmo: A Heartfelt Tribute to His Late Mother on Sesame Street

Andrew Garfield at Elmo: A Heartfelt Tribute to His Late Mother on Sesame Street

“It's kind of a lovely thing to feel, in a way, because it means that you really loved somebody when you miss them.”

“You know, Elmo always feels really sad when he misses somebody,” sabi ni Elmo.

Tumugon si Andrew, “Oh, yeah, me too.” Dagdag pa niya, “But you know, that sadness, it’s kind of a gift. It’s kind of a lovely thing to feel, in a way, because it means that you really loved somebody when you miss them.”

“The memories make me feel close to her… in a strange way,” pahayag ng aktor.

“So when I miss her, I remember, I remember it’s because she made me so happy. So I can celebrate her and I can miss her at the same time,” sabi niya.

“I’m indebted to everyone who’s brought me to this place, so that I can honor the most beautiful person that I’ve ever experienced in my life through my art and use it as a way to heal,” aniya, na pinipigilan ang kanyang luha.

“Because that’s what we do, right? That’s what you [Colbert] do every night: You sew up our wounds,” he added.

“Every species of every living thing on this earth has lost a mother. Young dinosaurs were losing their mothers,” sabi niya sa isang panayam. “So in terms of my own personal experience, yeah, it felt like a very simple act of healing for myself, and hopefully healing for an audience,” dagdag niya.

Hi, I’m Hazel Paras-Cariño—Head of Content at theAsianparent Philippines, proud mom of two, and passionate storyteller at heart. With over 11 years of experience in content strategy, digital marketing, and editorial leadership, I now lead our content across web, app, and social platforms to serve one of the most important audiences out there: Filipino parents. Whether it's creating informative articles, engaging mobile experiences, or meaningful social conversations, I believe content should connect with both data and heart.

Before this role, I worked as App Marketing Manager and Web Content Editor at theAsianparent, and previously contributed to NGOs, tech, and creative industries. I hold a Master’s degree in Integrated Marketing Communication, but my real education comes from balancing deadlines, diapers, and the daily chaos of motherhood. When I’m off-duty, you’ll find me painting, dancing, or exploring imaginative stories with my kids—sometimes all at once.

Let’s keep creating content that informs, empowers, and uplifts families.
