Importansya ng DHA sa Brain Development: Paano Masisigurong Nakukuha ng Toddlers ang Tamang Nutrition

DHA plays a key role sa brain at eye development ng toddlers. Learn paano masisiguradong may sapat na DHA intake ang anak mo through breastmilk at healthy foods.

Kapag usapang brain development ng bata, hindi puwedeng balewalain ang nutrition. Lalo na sa toddler stage, kung saan mabilis ang learning, growth, at development ng utak. Isa sa pinaka-importanteng nutrients para dito ay ang DHA (docosahexaenoic acid).


Ano ang DHA at bakit ito mahalaga sa toddlers?

Ang DHA ay isang klase ng omega-3 fatty acid na critical para sa brain at eye development. Nakakatulong ito sa:

  • cognitive function at learning behavior

  • development ng mata at visual health

  • overall memory at brain performance

Ayon sa mga studies, yung mga batang may sapat na DHA ay may mas magandang learning outcomes at brain health. Ibig sabihin, malaking tulong ito para maging handa sila sa school years ahead.


Research on DHA and brain development

Maraming research ang nag-highlight ng role ng DHA sa growth ng bata. Sa isang review na naka-publish sa National Library of Medicine, ipinakita na ang improvement ng DHA levels sa bata ay may observable brain changes—meaning, mas gumaganda ang learning at behavior.

Kahit na limitado pa ang ibang pag-aaral, malinaw ang resulta: ang kulang sa DHA ay puwedeng makaapekto sa learning at behavior ng bata. Kaya importante na masiguradong may sapat na DHA intake habang bata pa.


May DHA ba sa breastmilk?

Yes! Natural na may DHA ang breastmilk, at ito ang main source ng nutrients ng mga babies at toddlers. Pero, ang level ng DHA sa breastmilk ay puwedeng mag-iba depende sa diet ng nanay. Halimbawa, ang mga moms na madalas kumain ng fatty fish ay mas mataas ang DHA levels sa kanilang breastmilk.

Kaya nire-recommend ng health experts na maging mindful ang mga nanay sa diet nila, lalo na kung breastfeeding, para makasiguradong sapat ang DHA na nakukuha ng kanilang anak.


Natural food sources ng DHA

Bukod sa breastmilk, toddlers can start getting DHA mula sa iba’t ibang solid foods (kapag age-appropriate at ayon sa rekomendasyon ng pediatrician). Ilan sa mga natural sources ng DHA ay:

  • fatty fish tulad ng salmon, tuna, at sardinas

  • itlog (egg yolk)

  • karne ng manok

  • fortified food products (check food labels!)

Sa pamamagitan ng balanced diet, masisigurado mong may sapat na DHA intake ang anak mo habang lumalaki.


Bottom line

Ang DHA ay mahalaga para sa brain at eye development ng toddlers. Breastmilk naturally contains DHA, at habang lumalaki ang bata at natututo nang kumain ng solids, puwede na ring idagdag ang mga pagkaing rich in DHA sa kanilang diet.

The goal? Bigyan sila ng strong foundation para sa learning, behavior, at overall brain health—habang bata pa lang.
