Disabled father walks across cities in search for missing son

Disabled father walks across cities in search for missing son

When the police’s investigation came up empty, Chen decided to leave his factory job and left home with his wife look for their son.

A parent’s love for their children knows no bounds. They will do what they can come hell or high water just to make sure that their children are safe.

A man in China with a walking disability is a testament to that; he walks across cities on his hands and feet in search for his missing son, and he isn’t stopping anytime soon.

According to local news reports, Chen Shengkuan’s two-year-old son, Chen Zhaoyuan, went missing around 15 months ago from their home at the Wenzhang Xi village in Chengyue, China.

The father said that his son had been abducted while he was playing with his cousins. Not only that, Chen believes that his son had been sold off to another family.

When the police’s investigation came up empty, Chen decided to leave his factory job and left home with his wife look for their son.

Chen has lived with a walking disability since he was a child after being diagnosed with polio, but that didn’t stop him from his search.

Chinese media reported that Chen has managed to cover his broader province and has moved to Zhangjiang, a larger city with a population of 6.9 million people. Now his hunt has taken him to one of China’s biggest cities, Guangdong.

He carries with him a poster with the photo of his missing son and details of the incident, hoping that people will be able to point him into the right direction.

“No matter how hard or how much I have to suffer, I will never give up looking for my son,” the father told Yangcheng Evening News.

Incidences of child abduction aren’t new in China. In fact it happens throughout the country.

“Many of the young victims, especially boys, are sold onto families in rural areas who are desperate for a son or who could not have their own children,” said a Daily Mail report.

“The Chinese media have reported many heartbroken parents who spend years or even decades exhausting all means in search of their missing children.”
